IT'S SUPERCROSS!!!

(These two battles for the better part of the premier race of the night)

This past Saturday Tre and I ventured up to Rice-Eccles Stadium for the return of Supercross to Utah. After a 5 year hiatus from Utah, Supercross was back and better than ever. Except for parking 2 miles away and carrying Tre to the stadium (he fell asleep on the way up and wasn't happy when I awoke him) it was pretty much the sweetest thing ever. The racing was intense, the chicks were smoking hot (just kidding Bec), and the weather actually turned out to be pretty decent. It was a little chilly, but not too bad considering it was snowing in Utah County a few hours before the racing started. I was a little worried it was going to be a mudder, but the track turned out to be pretty good.

I think Tre had a pretty good time. He liked the track and the motorcycles (even though he didn't like how loud they were), but most of all he liked the bobcats that were doing track maintenance between races. Of all the cool things at a Supercross he gets excited over the miniature tractors used to smooth out the track. Wow. He also thoroughly enjoyed the big bag of cotton candy and lemonade we got (I used it to bribe him after he said he wanted to go home 15 minutes into it) shortly after arrival.

Overall the event was a huge success and I even have a verbal commitment from Tre to attend next year with me as well. So anyone else who would like to join us next year, this is your open invitation. And don't act you're all too cool, believe me you won't be disappointed.

(Sorry no pics from the event, I'm a bad father and didn't take a camera)

Newest Members In A Growing Family

Just as the Dr. posted about a little while ago, I too was bitten by the gun bug. I was just bitten a very long time ago. My collection has been growing for quite some time now and these two fine pieces are the latest additions.

The top one is a 9mm (CZ 85 b) and the bottom is a 22lr (Sig Sauer Mosquito). I purchased these last week and still have not had a chance to shoot either one (9mm ammo is a little hard to find right now). I have however, already ordered some accessories for my trusty little Mosquito. This time next week it should be fitted with a sweet laser sight to add to the already pimp look. Two of my bother-in-laws have these little Mosquito's and they are a ball to shoot, and 22lr bullets are about as cheap as it gets. As for the 9mm, reviews on the internet were all stellar. For under $500 I thought this would be a solid choice for my first "gangsta" gun or "Gat".

Eventually I would like to customize a pair of these 9mm to look something like this...

or maybe even this....

Tell me those aren't sweet looking.

Does Anyone Want To Be #1?

I don't know what the deal is this year in College Basketball, but it seems as though no team wants to be #1. As of today there have been five different teams ranked in the top spot (UNC, PITTx2, W.F., DUKE, UCONN). With PITT getting beat last night (is it just me or does their coach look like a young Pat Riley?) by Providence it looks as though we'll have a new #1 next week. It's probably going to be UCONN if they can beat Marquette tonight. It would have been Oklahoma if they hadn't lost two straight (Griffin got hurt), though I still think they are going to be one of the favorites come tournament time. Have you seen Blake Griffin? Guy is an animal. I did think Tikes' beloved 'Heels were asserting themselves as the nations elite again until Maryland and The Ugly Venezuelan Assasin stuck it to them. I was quite disappointed with the lack of heart UNC showed in that game. Pretty pathetic. I do think they'll be back and fighting for the title come tourney time though. As for my Dukies, they have a few big games coming up that they need to take care business. Maryland tonight (who they beat by 41 earlier this year), and then Virginia Tech and Florida State. If they can get through those games it will set up a huge game to end conference play against UNC. With Elliot Williams (freshman) now running the point instead of Paulus, Duke has started to play very good. If Henderson and Scheyer can continue to play well, they just might make a March Madness run as well.

Will Summer Please Come!

I don't know if anyone else feels the way I do, but I'm straight up sick of winter (Me=Homer Winter=Bart). I don't know why I live in this state. Apparently every summer I forget how bad winter blows (I don't need any smart remarks P.). That is part of the reason for my blogging woes (depression). The other part is my family and now myself have been sick non-stop. We are all finally getting over it, but after strep making it's way through the family, along with some ear infections and sinus infections. I'm done. Not only that, but now on March 5 Tre will get his tonsils out and Eliza tubes in the ears. After all the doctors visits and then those, I'm going to be paying for medical bills for the rest of eternity.

Alas there is some good happening in the world. As you all might have heard, Tiger Woods makes his return to the golfing world next week at the Accenture Match Play Championship. Now everyone can start watching golf again. Even better, my favorite tournament is on the horizon. The Masters. There is no better golf tournament in the world, and Tiger will be going for his 5th green jacket. If there is one course I would kill to play it would be Augusta National.

Also of note this coming month is March Madness, and my Dukies seem to be getting worse as the tourny nears. Hopefully they can get their crap together. If they can finish out strong in ACC play (a win at Chapel Hill would be huge) they just might be able to make a run. As for the Gators (this is for you Tobi), they are 20-6 and currently in 2nd behind LSU in the SEC. Not bad, but they will need to finish strong if they want to make it into the big dance. They have been super inconsistent all year and need to step it up big time or will be relegated to the NIT..again.

Well that's it for now. Peace out!

National Champs!!

All I can say is HOLY DEFENSE! Florida's D has been solid all year, but did I for see them playing that well? No. Holding Oklahoma to 14 points with an INT on the one yard line, and stopping them four straight plays inside the ten yard line. That was unreal. The interception late in the game was huge too, as was the blocked field goal. It seemed like whenever Florida needed a big play on defense they got it. After much touting on the speed and athleticism of the Florida offense, they struggled for a good part of the game. Some of it was definitely Oklahoma's defense (and Tebow throwing two pretty ridiculous INT's), but in the end they pulled through. Harvin (who was obviously less than 100%) played outstanding with 9 carries and 122 yards with 49 yards on 5 catches. It could have been a lot more than that if he wasn't hurt. A couple plays he would have broke for 6 if he had the speed he usually does. And what do you say about Tim Tebow? After a less than stellar first half, he wasn't going to let Florida lose that game. He willed them to a win once again. How about busting out the old jump pass! Gotta love it. Go Gators #1!!!
( Congrats to Ute fans on a runner up spot in the AP)
